Thanks to all who brought in food items and school supplies for Champlin Park Shelf.
Food Shelf: Thank you to all who contributed to the Edinbrook Elementary food shelf in November. We will not be doing a food shelf in December. We have so many ways to help in our community during the month of December. Sponsor a Family helps bring Christmas gifts to local families. Family of God has sponsored 45 people this year. purchasing 31 coats plus items on their list. CEAP Toys for Joy program has a wish list of items for their holiday program. These can be dropped off at CEAP. Please consider bringing WARM hats & mittens for Evergreen Park Elementary (District 11) and Edinbrook Elementary (District 279). Gently used items (even jackets, boots & snow pants) are also gladly accepted.
Sponsor-a-Family: Thanks to all who will be shopping for gifts and/or donated money to buy coats and food certificates. All gifts are due December 3rd. If you forgot to sign up, it’s not too late to be involved, please contact Kathy Behrens.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Update: Thank you to all who filled shoeboxes. It looks like we will be sending 98 boxes. Thank you to Connie Anderson for getting us the official decorated boxes, and thank you for all who contributed towards the shipping costs. Thrivent also gave us a $250 grant to cover shipping costs this will help us put a dent in the $882 it will cost to send them. We will let you know where are boxes went in January.
Mitten Tree: We will continue this long time tradition at FOG. We will put the tree up after Sponsor A Family gift tags are gone. All warm winter wear we receive will be donated to Evergreen Park Elementary (AHSD) and Edinbrook Elementary (Osseo #279). Gently used items are accepted.
Garage Sale Expenditures: Several people have asked where the garage sale proceeds go. I thought I would give an update on expenditures. We gave $1600 to Lutheran Social Service to spend where there is the greatest need. We also gave $1600 to help fund our Sheridan Story project for this school year at Edinbrook Elementary. Pastor’s discretionary fund received $269. We funded the Martin & Katie Lutheran program at the fall pig roast for $500.
Each month we supplement our food shelf donations with either a check or groceries totaling $100 per month. We provided $594 to cover expenses for Trunk or Treat. We have committed to cover painting expenses in the Sunday school area but have not yet received receipts. Other future projects may include a commercial carpet shampooer & painting the sanctuary. The garage sale committee always welcomes suggestions on how to spend our proceeds.
